It's a good mindset to have. Being able to stand on your own two feet and not be dependant on anyone.
[She replies as her stance is similar.]
It's pretty cool. [The tatoo] I've been alone for a long time, so I get it.
[And then he gets close again. She notes the color on his cheeks as well and feels a little less embarrassed, even if her own flush has deepened.
He asks the question and she has to think on whether she wants to talk about it. Again, no one's ever asked her how she became possessed, they only cared that she was. The fact that this guy seems interested in her as a person is what prompts her to tell the tale.]
I was kicked out of my village as a young girl for being... different. [That, she's not going to go into.] A woman I came to know as Grandma took me in. She was a tough old bitch, sassy, sharp as nails. She taught me everything I know. We were poor, but happy.
One day I went out to gather fruit so we could eat that night and as I was coming home, I saw our house on fire with a giant Shade looming over it. Grandma was trapped inside.
[She takes a breath.]
I tried to fight it off, but I was too weak. It beat the shit out of me; broke both my ankles, took my arm and ripped out my eye. [Her hands clench into fists.] and then the bastard murdered my Grandma, right there in front of me and there wasn't shit I could do!
[Her shoulders start to shake, both from anger and grief as she tries to hold back tears. She's never told this story before, so it's hitting her harder than she thought.]
It left me for dead, laughing sadistically as it took off.
That's when he came to me, Tyrann. He wanted my body, but Grandma had told me to live and I vowed revenge on the bastard that killed her. So he offered me a deal. He'd give me his power to get my revenge as long as I... killed. He didn't care if it was other Shades, he just wanted to revel in the bloodshed.
He's just waiting for me to let down my guard so he can take over.
Long tag inc.

[Kainé holds up her left arm and lets some of the Shade magic escape. A black, smoke-like substance eminates from beneath the bandages and envelopes her hand and arm.]
This is the arm of a Shade.
