His eyes narrow, finally listening with sharper interest rather than the indifference he'd regarded the whole thing earlier on. He can't deny that Silco has a point. If the Hierarchy is allowed to continue as they are unchallenged, who knows how long it'll take before they start coming after the Restless?
(Apparently, it won't be that long from now.)
That said... ]
If you manage to pull that off, I'd say that would be an impressive way to do things around here. [ Not that he'll vie for a chance to be one of the leaders. Despite being a Harbinger, he's more useful as the vanguard than someone who calls the shots. ] Is that why you need me? To help you take the Hierarchy apart?
[ Someone like him is ever always drawn in by the call of chaos. ]

[ He asked it bluntly, his tone a touch sarcastic, slurred. Wire thin as he was, a streak of white in his hair, and age shown on his face, Silco didn't look like the type that had gotten used to soft living, and he certainly hadn't gorged on his position in a way that would leave him incapable of surviving -- but he wasn't exactly pumping iron, either. ]
I have a...need. The hierarchy has plenty of boots on the ground, those that are willing to simply throw we Restless in jail, or use their power to slap us down when we are..."unruly". [ Had he seen this? No, but Silco knew it happened. They were authority figures, after all. ]
I'm afraid that beyond a street brawl, I have little capability. You, however... were quite impressive, when you dealt with that Reaper.

You barely even know me, and you pick me out of everyone out here?
[ Seems like the sort of thing that would flatter just about anyone, but it simply amuses him. ]
That's quite a risk. What happens if I decide to do my own thing?
[ Silco said it himself. He isn't martially capable to stop Tartaglia from doing whatever he wants. ]

If you betray me, then I'll send one of my other associates after you. She's very good with explosives.
[ It's not that Silco doesn't expect betrayal -- he does, at every corner. It's what makes it that he can reach out with these big, world-shattering plans. Because he knows that all of them dislike the Hierarchy. He also knows that he won't be the first to stick it to them.
That meant, he needed to do this right, and that meant he needed firepower. Not just what Jinx could provide, but more than just that. He needed the kind of power that would lead them to victory -- controlled power. ]
Although, if you decide to do your own thing, I can't -- and won't stop you. It's your choice, whether you're with us or against us.

Oh? I like playing with explosives.
[ That's not really a threat. Not to him, anyway. Maybe someone else would balk at the thought of being chased after with a bomb but it just excites him. He wonders who this associate is. Maybe he should cause some trouble just so Silco can sic her on him. Wouldn't that be fun? It's better than hunting her down himself. ]
That said, I wouldn't mind helping you out here and there. Maybe taking the Hierarchy down is our ticket back home.

Don't worry, I pay too. Operations like this take time to amass funds, but...
[ He tipped his head back, and up, to blow another ring of smoke. ]
I don't believe in favors.
Although, if they can send us home... I think that information would be priceless, don't you?
[ At least send back those that were still alive, of which Silco was not included in that number. ]

[ Really, that's all it comes down to. While having more coin would be useful around here, he doesn't really need it if he can satiate his bloodlust either way. That's what keeps him interested more than anything else. ]
Fishing out the information from the Hierarchy should be a good place to start, right? I doubt it'll be lying around somewhere that can be easily found.

He's still going to pay, though. Can't have this guy thinking that he owes him anything later. That was always a quick way to get someone banging on your door, looking for payback. Something Silco knew well. ]
I'll keep that in mind, and look for someone strong for you to fight.
As it is, you're right. I've been rifling in every place I can find, but there isn't much. Financial records of businesses, other locations... [ Later, he'd even try the library and their locked rooms, to no avail. ]
They likely keep them at their headquarters, but while I'm not opposed to a little breaking and entering... [ It's different, when it's the cops. ]
Well. I'm hoping to find an alternate source.
no subject
That's a done deal for him, really. ]
Targeting their headquarters this early on is too risky anyway. It wouldn't be worth the trouble, even if it is a treasure trove of information.
[ As foolhardy as he can be sometimes, even he has his limits. He shrugs. ]
I'll see what I can find just by poking around. Maybe there's someone out here who knows a thing or two.

[ But Silco wasn't going to leave Childe to do all of the work. He certainly wasn't going to be idle, and the tip of his head, said that he'd been thinking the same thing. ]
I've been doing some digging in that direction myself. So far, I've turned up nothing. Mostly, I've been looking through documents, paying for any information from the types of people they ignore. [ A nod in the direction of the entrance to the alleyway. The younger folks Childe had seen. }
So far, we're turning up nothing, but there's a lot of information, and a lot of history to sort through. I expect to find something at some point, to lead us toward their dealings, and get a feel for who in Stygia is directly involved with them.
[ Other than Amun, but he was untouchable at this time. ]
no subject
That doesn't mean he has to like it though. ]
Cast your net wide and one of them is bound to find something useful, I guess.
[ He looks back at Silco, levelling him with a steady gaze. ]
Anything else I should know if I'm gonna work for you?
[ He wonders if there are any limits. Any lines he can't cross. ]

[ His tone is light, not quite airy, but it's almost there. Like he's considering what to say, but with a tip of his head, he finally said: ]
I have one recommendation. [ Again, a friendly tone, before: ] I do not recommend that you cross me.
[ Just as light, just as cordial. ] A tip, for the future. I don't take kindly to it.
no subject
Sure. I'll keep that in mind.
[ He takes that as a sign that this conversation is over. He probably remembers to give Silco his contact information too since that's necessary. Soon after, he leaves after that.
Even if there are parts he might not appreciate, at least it sounds like working for Silco is going to be an interesting way to spend his time. He's looking forward to it either way. ]
