More than... what? [ Bruno looks away from the roof and back towards Tartaglia again. He raises his hands, waving off the very thought. ] Oh, no, no, not. Not the roof, just in general, I guess? I've misjudged my jumps a few times out here in all these ruins is all.
[ He isn't thrilled with it but oh well. That offer, however, earns a puzzled look. ]
Uh, I... maybe? I mean, if you know anything about roofs, I wouldn't say no?
[ Just in general? What the heck is the guy doing out here? Tartaglia looks perplexed but it doesn't remain that way forever. If the guy prefers to be here instead of somewhere closer to civilization, then that isn't really any of his business.
The roof, however... ]
It all depends if you have the materials to deal with it. If not, I can make do with a tarp of some sort to patch it up for now until I can go back to the city for supplies.
[ Climb up enough places and leap across to other places out here, looking for anything worthwhile in the sprawling ruins, and yeah, in general. That, in general, but Bruno doesn't try to explain further despite the perplexed look he gets from Tartaglia. ]
I don't yet but that's why I was up there, y'know? If I could figure out what needs replacing, I can start looking for stuff to replace it with. Enough places out here still have some good parts worth using and... and if I can't find what I need in the ruins, then... well, I. I'm not sure what then.
[ Go bartering for them, he supposes. ]
Although I don't really have a tarp, either, so...
[ Bruno makes a good point. The ruins should provide a decent amount of workable materials, if they manage to find some, but first, they have to know what needs fixing. So Tartaglia wastes no time, approaching the vine that the other man once clung to before grabbing onto it. He uses it as a support while he scales up the wall with relative ease.
It looks like he's done it a few times before. He encounters no trouble at all while he makes his way up, steadying himself once he's reached the roof. It's not long before he's in the very same spot that Bruno was at before he caught the man off-guard. ]
It was around here, right?
[ Hm. This is a lot harder than he thought. This structure is old and dilapidated, so it's no wonder there are many things wrong with it. Maybe it's going to need more than just a tarp but... one step at a time.
He hums thoughtfully. ]
Some of the valleys have corroded, probably because of how old this is. We'd need to find the same metal it's made out of if you want it to be fixed properly.
[ He watches the other man clamber up to the rooftop with mild worry. The guy seems confident enough about this but what if he falls, too? Bruno can't offer the same catch he'd been offered. He's fairly sure he'd just get crushed under a falling Tartaglia if it came to that. ]
The valleys? [ Valleys? What? He thinks for a second or two, trying to recall where he'd even seen metal up thereβ ah. ] You mean the... those things. The things leading to the gutters?
[ Bruno stares at him for half a moment before blinking and then giving his head a shake. If only they were giving out postings to repair things! That would make his life immediately easier. ]
Oh, no, it's... this is, um. [ He waves towards the chapel itself, turning to look at it while he does. ] This is where I live. Most of my stuff is up in the balcony and that's still fine, like, as in nothing is dripping down there, but I don't really want to wake up to puddles of water all over the chapel floor, either.
[ There's no judgment in that tone. Can't blame a guy for wanting to live away from the rest of the population, but it can't be easy out here. If the state of the chapel is anything to go by. ]
If you want, there's an apartment complex in Serene where the rent is low and you get free meals. No pressure if you'd prefer to stay here though.
[ He at least knows what an apartment is. They don't have them in the village β everyone would chip in with labor and help build new houses as needed instead β but the concept existed before the mountains went up, it's not like he's never heard of them. ]
In Serene... I do like Serene. [ It's peaceful. It's safe. But, ] Only I don't have much money at all. I. I mostly just trade stuff I dig out of the ruins out here for, uh, other stuff, so...
You might be able to talk to the landlady and work something out. She's pretty reasonable if you explain your situation. Maybe you can help do things at the complex, like some chores...
[ Does he have proof that Sooyoung is reasonable? Not really. But if she turns this man down, it would be pretty surprising since the whole point she took over the place was the gather other Restless, wasn't it? ]
[ Cover for him... but this guy doesn't even know him. That's almost heartbreakingly kind if it wasn't for the perceived notion that it sort of felt like pity. Then again, Bruno was pitiable as far as people went, he supposed... ]
That's... I mean, I appreciate the offer, but you don't even know me? And I, uh. I don't really want to be anyone else's burden. Thanks, though... [ He looks back up at the chapel's roof. What is he even doing out here, anyway? Trying to avoid the city? ] Although I think I'll take a look at that place. It's not like it would hurt to.
[ This is just how Tartaglia is. Even if Bruno doesn't look pitiable, he would have offered him the same thing. Money doesn't mean much to the Harbinger when he comes from a modest seaside village. Whatever he earns end up going to his family, and well, they're not here (thankfully) so it might as well go to someone who needs it.
Still, he knows not to push it. ]
It wouldn't be a burden at all, but suit yourself. I won't push it. I can give you the address though.
Yeah, that'd be good. [ He won't say anything more about being a burden. Tartaglia may not see it that way but Bruno? Bruno is always a burden, in his own opinion. ] I'm Bruno, by the way. Y'know, may as well fix the whole... not knowing one another thing?
Childe. [ Bruno repeats the name, then nods. ] Got it. It's nice to meet you, too, and, uh, I'm glad you were around to catch me.
[ Even though he'd been the reason for slipping and stumbling off the roof in the first place. It hadn't exactly been a safe thing for him to be doing, meaning there'd been a chance it would have happened anyway, so...
Yeah, Bruno won't dwell on that. Better to be grateful since he's being so nice about it. ]
Hm. Roof valleys. Y'know, I think I know a few buildings out here with mostly intact roofs still, we could check those for some that aren't messed up.
You probably would have been fine if I hadn't said anything. [ And spooked Bruno, oops. ] At least you're safe either way.
[ In the end, maybe it is a good thing that Tartaglia ended up here. If Bruno had fallen off on his own, then who knows what would have happened then? Best not to worry about it now. ]
But sure, that sounds like a good place to start. Lead the way and we'll go check them out.
[ Just because he was a prophet doesn't mean he'd know one way or the other. In any case, Bruno nods off in the direction of the first few ruins that came to mind. They'd been intact enough to be worth a look. ]
( ooc. sounds good with me! bruno will basically have childe helping him out with whatever repairs are needed (besides the roof) + he can come visit often, if needed. )

[ Slowly, he rises to a stand, not at all concerned about his safety... but he knows how to take care of himself anyway. He glances down at Bruno. ]
It's an easy fix, but it depends on what we can find around here.
[ Time to make his way down the very same vine— only to let go once he's halfway, landing gracefully on his feet. He dusts at his pants. ]
Any reason why you're trying to fix the roof? Is it for a commission?
