[ whether or not she believes him is unclear, at least, as she keeps her expression neutral. it's fine.

but at the very least, rosa does have less issue with using the match-- a combination of actually being well practiced in doing this in the cold, but also that she hasn't been standing here as long as keith has been. whether or not the fire will actually help is a different story. ]

[ keith watches her closely, fighting the urge to scoot right back in. it’s difficult to just – sit and watch. it pays off in the end, though. the match strikes and the tinder takes, a flame building and eating away at the pile. he’s quick now, to scoot and lean in, fanning the flame so it has enough oxygen to lick at the logs and climb along the dried bark. it’ll still need some babying, but for the most part, it’s a promising start, one that deserves a grateful: ]

[ this guy is so awkward, which isn't really a surprise considering the first time they spoke to each other. but rosa can't say she hasn't dealt with people like that before, so she'll just settle closer to the flame, trying to block away any gust of wind that might blow it out. ]

[ a bit stereotypical, to chat about the weather, but it's hard not to think about it considering their current predicament. ]

[ if this is some sort of cliché that has most folks rolling their eyes, keith is not among the crowd. being more of the affinity to avoid conversation, keith is one of those people who likes simple, straightforward topics. the weather is easy. the weather is factual. keith can handle the weather.

… figuratively, that is. literally, he’s still freezing his tush off, but the fire and slightly shared space of her sitting close by helps keep at bay the more violent shivers. ]
