Also, while Lottie is rightfully upset that her status as a regular shopper at this market will more than likely be revoked, she is swayed to at least let some of it simmer when he goes and says that. Its effect is only semi working, because the lizard is.. Lizarding. Lottie only gives a few, scattered glances to the crowd, cheeks flaring while she breathes grossly through her mouth (that's right, open mouth breathing glory).

There's a massive frown that makes Lottie look, frankly, silly. Childish, almost. ]

You're too much.. Seriously! [ I just don't get you, she thinks. ] Just.. Pay for it and let's go? Okay?!

[ he's a bit surprised... that she actually gives in. he isn't sure if it's her accumulated shame, or if it's the fact that she was perhaps a bit more easygoing than she appeared on the surface— but, he decides to take full advantage of the moment. he scoops up the packaged "mating ball"— the last of its kind left, apparently. or perhaps, one could only forage so many of these in the wild. after all, there probably is something to be said about lizards fuzed together by the act of pure thirst??

regardless, callisto actually doesn't ponder upon it too deeply. it wasn't like he was particularly empathetic. so he does pay for it, before tucking it under his arm. with that he reaches out and ushers her out beside him; even offering his arm for her like a proper gentleman.

He's lost her. Completely. Really, she can put up with a lot of odd things, like the snake making ball, but after hearing that? From him? It doesn't matter if he's hot, Lottie is miffed — so she doesn't take his arm (although she does debate on it, clearly, from the way she eyes it), as a result. ]

[ while he was slightly more self-aware than he led on, he has to admit that lottie was fairly difficult to get a read on. hence, he has no idea what about his words may have led to disturb her. he gives a look of consideration for a second, before: ]

Do you dislike being referred to as "the lady"? [ then, slightly quieter. ] ... and are you scolding me? [ oddly enough, he did notice there was trend here in people preferring their own names, or a nickname. which, does give him some pause, before he eventually speaks again. ]
