Anyway they're at the harbors, out on one of the piers overlooking the oceans with fishing poles in hand. The weather's nice, or at least as nice as it ever gets someplace where the sun literally doesn't shine, and Heewon's feeling largely alright as she repeats silently to herself the fishing tips that Zagreus had taught to her earlier. Soon she's gonna be a pro at this and then they are going to make SO MUCH MONEY and buy SO MANY SHITTY SWORDS that will break after like three uses.
Maybe she's a little delusional, but sometimes it's okay to be delusional. ]
It would have been nice if all our scenarios had been like this.
[ Just a nice fishing sidequest, no murder or monsters to be found anywhere. ]
[ Maybe Heewon's on her way to becoming a pro, but Dokja is struggling. He's got the fishing pole in his hands, yes, but good god, it took effort to get to this point. And even at this point, he has no idea what he's doing. Every single time he thinks he gets so much as a nibble on the other end of the line, he's jerking his rod (not like that) and coming up with literally nothing.
Actually, that's not true. He snagged a waterlogged branch one time. ]
You think so? I don't think I would have gotten very far with them.
[ Help, he is losing his mind with this side quest. ]
[ IT'S BETTER THAN KILLING PEOPLE? Though at this rate Dokja would be the one dying from failing to complete the scenario.
It's impossible not to crack a smile at the way he flounders, moving first too quickly and then too slow, his movements twitchy as he holds the fishing pole like its some unfamiliar weapon. But maybe that's just a natural consequence of spending so long fighting for their lives. It's not as though she's that much better herself, body tensing too often when she sees something out of the corner of her eye or hears a noise that she doesn't recognize. ]
Maybe not.
[ She'll concede him this much, after watching him fumble. And then, after watching him fumble a little longer, she ambles over to him. (For all her delusions at becoming a fishing master, she hasn't exactly caught any fish either.) ]
A guy I met here earlier told me you can use your fingers to get a feel for when there's a fish on the line. It's supposed to be more accurate that way.
[ No, it's mostly the consequence of having zero talent for most things which now include fishing. It's not like he's much of an outdoorsy person in general, and now he's expected to catch fish with zero experience? If Heewon weren't here, he would truly be doomed.
He glances up at her as she approaches, frustration clear as day on his face. The result of how poorly he's doing, though he tries to hide some of that away when she offers her advice. Fingers to get a feel? Isn't that what the rod is for??
Still, he tries it, placing the tips of his fingers on the line and... not feeling much of anything. ]
Do you happen to know how long this usually takes?
[I KNOW I SAID NOTICE BOARD but let's do a jailbreak thread val smiles
Jailbreak! In that Sooyoung's already out of her cursed cell by the time Heewon swings around, because the ORVs have been through too much shit to be considered damsels, but while she's dispatched the guard easily enough (by picking an extremely loud fight with him and then strangling him with a chain), she's still busy trying to pick the cuffs off her ankle.]
Took you long enough.
[she says, relieved. She sticks her ankle out, jingles the chain.]
At some point pre-jailbreak but post-jailing, she gets herself a sword. Partly because she needs one for everyday use anyway (why are there so many monsters here? aren't they all dead already, do they really need to die again via monster claw?) but also because...well. She has people she needs to bust out of jail.
THANKFULLY only half the complex is comprised of criminals (at least jailed ones), so it's not too awful to scrounge up a little task force and set out to bust their friends out of jail. Also, how are they supposed to make money otherwise if half the tenants aren't there to pay rent?
Heewon, predictably, looks relieved to see Sooyoung in one piece. It's not any worse for the wear than they've been through during all the scenarios so like, this is pretty good actually? Sooyoung has clothes (a rag), all of her limbs (even if I guess one has a brand now??), and enough life in her to throw jabs, so clearly it wasn't all bad in jail. ]
Next time maybe you shouldn't get caught in the first place.
[ Because that's clearly the problem here. Anyway, give her a sec to just like slam her sword against the chain and hope her stats pull through to snap the chain in half. If HSY wanted a different method of escape she should have waited for someone else. ]
[everyone else: suffering from jail the orvs: just another tuesday]
How was I supposed to know that they'd just grab me out of nowhere?! I didn't even do anything!
[Despite all of her complaining, she's relieved that Heewon's here? She's the best option out of the -- very few options Sooyoung has, though she would have also accepted Uriel. Speaking of,]
Where's your sponsor? No, let me guess -- she ran off to save Yoo Joonghyuk.
[It was a stupid question to ask. She hopes she doesn't sound as jealous as she feels -- damn it, where's HER sponsor??? why isn't the abyssal black flame dragon also DEAD??? She grabs the chain, trying to yank it off its anchor as Heewon goes to bat on it. ]
[ haha, should have picked a more reliable sponsor--jk, let us all not forget the time uriel got banned from the internet for three years when she tried to help out dokja
Anyway, that sounds sus, the part about Sooyoung doing absolutely nothing. Press X to doubt. But Heewon says nothing, continuing instead to hack away at the chain. Damn, how sturdy is this thing? Or is it her sword? Did she end up with a really bad sword?? Maybe she should look into that soulforging thing sooner rather than later. :/ ]
Uriel? Yeah, she said she wanted to look for Yoo Joonghuk. [ handwaves this happened ] I told her he could probably take care of himself but she still wanted to go.
[ Nothing can stand between a fujoshi and (half of) her ship. ]
I'm surprised they managed to catch you guys. We've been through worse than this before.
[ are they still hacking away at this chain....how we doin', fam ]
[ It's not that she really wants to be latching onto Callisto for dear life, but sometimes the spirit of Christmas past (Krampus) decides to mess with all your things just for fun and it results in deep-seated feelings of despair and panic within your chest. And sometimes the only person nearby is someone you still can't tell if you like or find deeply annoying.
Also, it's still miserably freezing, and she's not so proud as to leech whatever body heat she can get off this man. (What else are men good for, really?)
All of this to say that she currently has a death grip on his sleeve, knuckles white with tension, her head leaning against his shoulder while she tries to even out her shallow breathing. ]
