[Ah, that makes Zag remember someone he knows and cares deeply for. There's a slight clear of his throat there, but thankfully it doesn't grow to a full coughing fit at the reminder.

Still, he does reach out to Shalem's hand, a simple hold with the crystal between their palms, even if he smiles at the contact nonetheless, his hold giving a playful squeeze with each of his fingers as though he's playing the piano.] Have you been able to keep warm, by the way? Or have you moved?

I moved out to another place, a small house out in Serene.

[shalem tugs at their joined hands so they can find some place to sit, like a bench at a little public park.]

Far more quiet, but wood aplenty, for feeding my fireplace.

Ah, that's good. [Tugged he is, happy to let Shalem take the lead and pick a spot where it's more comfortable. He's adaptable and has no tail; he figures sitting down anywhere may not be possible for Shalem every time.

So when they do, he settles easily.] I'm glad you're more comfortable there. It seems that the weather, as they say, is getting much colder.

Yes-- it's winter now. [with his free hand, he points up at the sky. specifically, a random snowflake drifting in the distance, pausing en route to a bench nearby that could hold both of them.] See? It's snowfall. That's how you know the temperature if the air has dropped significantly.

[and is why shalem is bundled up, save for the one hand and the tail. then again, who makes clothing for tails? and why would shalem buy them? it would make his scales feel awful, or even outright irritate them.]

I noticed the gradual change last month, and rushed to find a suitable house.

Oh, yes. I do know snow. [Demeter had been quite particular about her neverending winter, snow was cast everywhere even where it isn't supposed to. Over plains, near white shores. She had decided to leave a thick blanket of snow everywhere, into which he faceplanted and painted blood red over yet again another fight with his Father.]

Does it last long, though, do you think? This cold, I mean. [He hopes not. Snek needs warmth, no matter how pretty snow is.]

[prozaic]

If the climate here is the same as the one home... We shall have winter for three more months, give or take a week. [then shalem sighs. that's going to be difficult for him indeed. at least when he was with rhodes island, the temperature was carefully regulated to be comfortable to everyone.

when he finally finds a bench, he tugs his tail onto his lap and rubs it with his free hand. best to keep it warm too.]

I'm sure it'll be but a blink, and you'll be basking in the light again soon.

[Although for someone divine as him, time is a little different, in the way it passes. Zag shifts his weight, looking at Shalem's tail, wondering if there would be a way to cover it or keep it comfortably warm.

The idea of a tiny beanie for its tip sort of tickles him, but he won't say anything about it, finding it a bit too silly.

He turns their interlocked fingers gently.] Do you think it's working?

[despite wanting to be casual about this, shalem looks down at their hands as well.]

I don't know yet. Perhaps it's like a kettle-- it shan't boil while being watched. [he might have butchered that idiom a little, but the gist is there...!]

Let's pass the time in some way other than waiting, what do you say?

[Zag almost gasps when he mentions that he may be somewhat invading the crystal's privacy as it does its thing.

Sorry, crystal.

He does straighten up and looks up at Shalem when he suggests doing something else.]

Sure. Do you have anything in mind?

Ahh... it's a shame I don't have a book with me. [then he turns to zagreus and taps him on the shoulder, a look of mischief on his face.]

Do you have movies on your phone?

[dodgeouttahell]

[He perks up! Oh! He can be useful. Excuse him while he single-handedly reaches within the folds of his chiton to get his phone.]

I have a couple from a job on the notice board a while ago. Take a look; maybe you haven't watched any of these before? [He hands it over to him when he opens a list of the files there.]

Oh! [it's shalem's turn to perk up. he knows exactly what zagreus is talking about.] That man is prone to losing his movies, isn't he?

[then he waves his free hand around. the movies were interesting. a lot of tension, but not that scary. but some of those movies had well-done tension, so he enjoyed himself.]

You're a fan of ghost movies, I take it.

[dodgeouttahell]

You, too, huh? [He saw how the job posting would disappear from the notice board, only to be put up again the next day. That tickles him, so he chuckles lightly as he peers at the ones Shalem is looking through.]

Sure, though if you scroll down, [look at him knowing the lingo!] you get the ones I had on my phone before that are of a different genre. [Action, fantasy, sci-fi, mostly. He just looked at the ones that seemed to indicate a journey or some travel, and he's a curious lad.] You pick. I haven't watched any of those yet.

[taking the invitation as it is, shalem scrolls down to read the titles and thumbnails, noting which ones would be most interesting to him.]

How about fantasy, then? Horror isn't so horrific to me. [look, if you grew up the way shalem grew up, your life would be one whole horror flick.]
